The latest album of Cody Chesnutt is entitled "Landing On A Hundred". It is Cody's first full-length album in a decade. The album contains twelve tracks.
Cody Chesnutt is keeping it mostly funky and soulful on the album. You will also hear a blues track and of course some rock and roll music. The most significant change in comparison with his first album is Cody's conversion to religion which you will observe in the lyrics.
This conversion you will notice at once in the first song which is called "'Til I Met Thee". It is a vintage soul song with a clear message of Cody. Other songs where Cody Chesnutt definitely leaves the past behind are "Everybody's Brother" and " Don't Wanna Go The Other Way". It might take some time to get fimiliar with the new Cody Chesnutt. Once you are familiar with this new born artist you will find out that he still has a great voice. In the song "Chips Down" you can fully enjoy it. Also very enjoyable is the track "I've Been Life". This track might remind you of the Afro funk music of Fela Kuti. More funk but this time to remind you of James Brown's "Make It Funky" you will hear in "Scroll Call". One of the most soulful tracks on the album is "What Kind Of Cool".(TA)
