Bluey from Incognito doing a movie soundtrack next? News
Bluey from Incognito doing a movie soundtrack next?

Bluey Bluey, front man of Incognito, confesses to SaveOurSoul that he is desperate to do a movie soundtrack. He says to SaveOurSoul "I've got the studio, the musicians and lots of ideas, I would love to create something specifically for a story or an image"

SaveOurSoul caught up with Bluey as he was already working on the new Incognito album, despite his first solo album Leap Of Faith is about to be released on March 25. An excited Bluey talked about how this album came about.

After 15 albums with Incognito Bluey felt that it was the right time to make a solo album where he himself did the vocals. After getting rave reviews from his peers he decided that it would be released.

Another landmark for Bluey is his performance at the prestigious London's Royal Albert Hall. He will perform there with his band Incognito alongside Mario Biondi.

So far this year has been special for Bluey with new things happening. Doing a movie soundtrack would be the icing on the cake.

The complete interview with Bluey will be aired in SaveOurSoul on 16 March 16:00 CET/10:00 EST - 18:00 CET/12:00 EST

Tasha's World is back with a new single News
Tasha's World is back with a new single

Tasha's World R&B soulstress Tasha’s World is back and she’s coming out of the gate swinging. Known for her fashionable styling and her signature jazzy/hip-hop influenced vocal twang, Tasha wanted to re-emerge reinvented but at the same time remain loyal to the warm sound her fans have embraced over the past decade. This is apparent with her new single “Running” featuring SB (from Chicago)

Tasha's World is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on her third studio album BLCK GLD (due this Spring). After dedicating the last four years to motherhood and mentoring up & coming artists in her hometown of Rotterdam (the Netherlands), it’s safe to say she’s regained the itch to reconnect with her artistry. Tasha's World is considered to be one of Holland’s soul music pioneers as the first neo-soul artist to break through internationally – selling out London’s Jazz Café numerous times, a couple of appearances at North Sea Jazz Festival and winning the prestigious “Emma Award” in the UK to countless other accolades, festivals & tours along the way.

Tasha’s World (born Natascha Slagtand) comes from a musical family and has been surrounded by jazz & soul music her entire life. Her personal style is influenced by such greats as Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Curtis Mayfield, Donny Hathaway and Quincy Jones, just to name a few. In 2001, TW released her self-titled debut, Tasha’s World in Japan (via Avex) and subsequently in Europe the following year (via Dome). This album introduced notable crowd favorites like “Stalker”, “Tasha’s World” & “Black Panther” and received rave reviews, even being voted one of the best albums of 2002 by Blues & Soul and Echoes Magazine.

In 2004 Tasha’s World released her sophomore album World Domination, which was recorded
in the prestigious Phoenix Sound Studios in Wembley and the Future Sound studios in London.
Album gave birth to the singles “Glowing (Growing)” & “Jah Bless” and a duet with London
rapper TY entitled “Always Change“. She embarked on a world tour in promotion of the record,
including stops in New York (S.O.B’s), London, a duet with Eritrean superstar Yohannes Tikabo,
Capetown (North Sea Jazz, South Africa), Rotterdam (Nighttown), The Hague (North Sea Jazz
Festival) & Amsterdam (Paradiso).

Will Downing celebrates 25 years of recording excellence News
Will Downing celebrates 25 years of recording excellence

Will DowningRewind to 1988, CDs outsold vinyl for the first time while a little known singer from Brooklyn released a self-titled debut on Island Records called Will Downing. Fast-forward to 2013, CDs have taken a backseat to MP3s but that singer from Brooklyn has withstood the test of time. Today, Will Downing, the Grammy® nominated reigning “Prince of Sophisticated Soul”, celebrates an incredible 25 years of recording excellence with his 16th album, “Silver”.

Silver is not a “Best of” or “Greatest Hits” collection. Silver is a personal invitation from Will Downing to his fans to jointly celebrate a quarter-century of giving his heart and soul through every song, concert and note. For loyalists that have been there from day one, it’s their Silver Anniversary.

Fittingly, Silver is a sweet combination of something “old”, something “new” and something “borrowed” - nothing “blue.” Starting with the “new,” this collection includes four fresh tracks, written by Downing and Chris “Big Dog” Davis with additional contributions from Tony Tolbert (Prof-T from LoKey?) and Gary Taylor (Anita Baker, The Whispers).

The lead single, “Stuff That I Like” - full of fun and flirty food metaphors and a beat that Steppers will find irresistible - has already been serviced to radio to great support and reviews. “What Would You Do?” rides a bouncy Caribbean feel to ask a pretty heavy question: “If you knew today was your last day…what would you do with it?” “You Were Meant Just For Me” is a sizzling duet of undeniably powerful musical chemistry with rising star

Avery Sunshine, lamenting the mutual discovery of a perfect partner at a not so perfect time. “Never Find Another Love” has Downing singing through the footsteps of a man whose inner struggles force him to walk painfully yet mercifully away from an otherwise perfect relationship.
Unlike 1988, songs these days rarely come from such emotional places...

Something “borrowed” comes from Downing’s self-released trilogy of 4-song EPs Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. Today’s challenge for classic artists releasing albums independently is employing a marketing and distribution strategy that keeps your message and product in front of fans. Will hand-picked seven of those songs for Silver including “The Michael Baisden Show“ - driven hit “One Step Closer” and “The Blessing” - voted Song of the Year in the Soul Tracks 2012 Readers’ Choice Awards.

Something “old” (i.e. classic) on Silver is an exclusive “live” rehearsal recording of Will and his band performing a medley of his cover classic hits “I Go Crazy” / “Wishing on a Star” / “I Try”. Capriciously offering up playful banter and hidden flubs on this one, Will still audibly derives great pleasure from his craft.

Dreams have been fulfilled…so Happy Silver Anniversary to the “Prince of Sophisticated Soul”

Fontella Bass, US soul singer of Rescue Me, dies at 72 News
Fontella Bass, US soul singer of Rescue Me, dies at 72

Fontella BassFontella Bass, best remembered for the hit song Rescue Me, has died on 26 December 2012 of complications from a heart attack at age 72. She had been in poor health for much of the past years. Her song Rescue Me reached the top of the US R&B chart in 1965.

Gospel singer Martha Bass, one of the Clara Ward Singers, was the mother of Fontella Bass. Fontella began singing in a church's choir at the age of six. Like many of her generation, she switched to soul and R&B in the 60s, signing to Chess Records.

Fontella Bass first success came with a duet with Bobby McClure entitled "Don't Mess Up a Good Thing". She was the co-writer of "Rescue Me". It took years of legal battles for Fontella to receive full royalty rights to the song. Fontella Bass was married to jazz musician Lester Bowie.
